Action Cameras was launched in South Africa in April 2010 with
the objective of leading the way in bringing the latest developments in helmet
camera technologies to SA while proving excellent customer service and having
fun while doing it.
Our customers all have a passion for extreme sports. We wanted
to provide products that would enable our customers to record and share their
experiences and get more out of something they already love. Everyone has
different budgets and requirements and we set out to provide the widest range
of products so there is something for everyone.
Since launch we have quickly developed a reputation of providing
high quality equipment backed by great customer support. We have provided
camera systems to several F1 teams, Red Bull air racers, Super Bike teams,
Rally Teams, production companies like the BBC and MNET, Olympic athletes and
thousands of action sports enthusiasts worldwide.
Our
South African office in Johannesburg is affiliated with the wider Action
Cameras Team which was originally started in London in 2006 and has since
expanded into France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Sweden and more recently Germany.
Over the last six years nearly every model of helmet camera sold
was first launched by Action Cameras including the Oregon Scientific range,
GoPro Range, Contour range and the Drift range of cameras to name just a few.
In addition to being first to launch new products we have been at the forefront
of marketing the whole concept of “action cameras” and you can see from our
news section we have appeared regularly in national press, action sports
magazines and TV such as this interview below.
Since launch we, as the company and the members of the team, won
a number of business awards including being a London Winner of the HSBC
Start-up Stars 2008. The award recognises start-ups which are exciting and have
demonstrated success in a short space of time. In September 2009 our (then) UK
country manager Warrick Kernes was awarded “The Outstanding Young Business
Person” award for North West London.Warrick
has since left the UK Management role to take the lead in opening up the South
African offices in his home country.2011
saw the SA team land a Top 40 placement in South Africa's best websites as well
as being interviewed live on 94.7 Highveld Stereo after they selected us as
their Business of the Week in October. SABC also took an interest in our
company and invited us onto the Expresso Show for an interview which you can
see below in the inserted video. 5FM
followed 94.7s lead and interviewed us on the Fresh Drive Show in February
2012.
These awards and the many
nominations we receive is a testament to our commitment to our customers and
everyone who works with us. We are hoping to win more awards in 2013!
We could not continue without the support of our customers so a big thank you
to all. Please continue to send us your footage and feedback on how we can
improve our products and services.
